With no Premiership or Championship football on Saturday due to international matches, it has been designated Non-League Day and grassroots clubs across the country are looking forward to showing spectators what is available in their own areas.

Locally, Stowmarket Town are the highest placed club in the non-League 'pyramid' playing in the Ridgeons League's First Division, six levels below the Football League.

Even so, they still have their own chance of glory and on Saturday travel to Brantham Athletic in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase, kick-off 3pm.

The final is held at Wembley and last season saw Wroxham, who play just one step higher than Stow in the Premier Division of the Ridgeons League, reach the final.

There is also action at Greens Meadow, where Stowmarket Town Reserves welcome Gorleston Reserves in the North Division of the Ridgeons Reserve League, kick-off 3pm.

One step down from the Ridgeons League is the Kingsley Healthcare Suffolk and Ipswich League, in which five of the area's clubs compete.

Old Newton United and Haughley United both play in the Senior Division, while Stowupland Falcons are in Division One and Salvation Army in Division Two. Completing the local representation are Cedars Park, who are in Division Six.

All five clubs also have reserves teams in the league, while Old Newton and Stowupland field 'A' teams as well.

  • Results will be listed as soon as they are known. Feel free to add your reports, whether you are a player or spectator, from any game involving local sides – there are several more who play on Sundays and at youth level.

Oops! Sorry, I've relegated Cedars Park. They play in Division Five of the SIL. Their reserves are in Division Six.

Also, the links to the Stowmarket Town website doesn't seem to be working. Try this...
