' If you visit this pub at the weekend make sure you are not thirsty as you will be waiting for anywhere up to 30 minutes to get served!!!! the locals are not friendly, so also make sure you travel with friends, the staff are quite often very short with you and have no desire at all to engage in conversation, i have eaten in this pub a few times and the food is OK for what you pay, however the cold atmosphere greatly lets it down, if you just want to get drunk and act like an idiot you may find this pub nice but i would say you would be better of going to the dukes head up the road as the drinks are cheaper and the queues are much shorter!! '

Sure the bar can get very busy at the weekend, but that's a sign of a popular pub! Thats what people want on a night out.. a packed venue! I have never known the staff to be cold or short with me or friends. You get loud characters like any pub. Unfortunately thats alcohol for you, but perhaps this person who left the review didnt want what The Oak is all about.. being one of the most popular weekend venues in Stowmarket at the weekend!
