Crime rates in Stowmarket are above average compared to the rest of the country

Crime rates in Stowmarket have gone up and police station opening times are changing. What do you think?

Over recent weeks there has been a lot of discussions about crime in Stowmarket. As always Stowmarketpeople is very interested in all local debate and has done some research into crime levels in our town.

Some what alarmingly Stowmarket's crime rates are above average compared to the rest of the country. In September 2009 thirty-one crimes were reported, 58 were reported in September this year. Surely Stowmarket's levels of violent crime must be a concern, it is definitely a problem. Though I feel quite safe walking Stowmarket's streets I imagine it can be extremely frightening for Stowmarket's older residents. As you may have read in the local press, this week Suffolk Police announced changes to the opening times of their public information desks situated in police stations. From December 1 Stowmarket Police station's enquiry desk will be open everyday from 9am - 5pm. Read the full details here.
