The new pub is called the Willow Tree and since it's opening this morning it has already proved to be a huge hit with the locals. Whether it's just the excitement of a new place to go, or the long anticipated wait, everyone seemed more than satisfied with Stowmarket's new addition.
The opening Willow Tree has offered many jobs to local people too and provides a new hub for social activity. The Willow Tree also stocks a wide variety of local ales which will help support local breweries.
David Speurders local business man made the following statement
"At first I was cynical about the Wetherspoons but when I came in today and saw how many local types of ale they had, I was sold."
The pub benefits from easy access from all entrances with a seating area at the front and a large well designed beer garden at the rear with steps down to Morrisons car park.
Lisa Hay enjoyed a nice meal with her friend, she said
"It's nice and spacious; I will definitely come back here. I think that the Oak and the Dukes Head will have some problems as a lot more people will come here"
If you visited today you would have been greeted with an arch of golden balloons celebrating the opening, followed by masses of happy people eating and drinking (depending on time) in the spacious and well designed layout. Everything looked immaculate and beautifully styled with the decor to match. It was an ideal opening day enjoyed by many happy customers.
The Willow Tree's manager, Phil Stanyon, was pleased with the opening day. He said
"It's gone really well today, I'm really pleased. We've got a superb building here that I think everyone will really enjoy. It's great to be catering for the people of Stowmarket."
