Stowmarket is among many places suffering from a rise in unemployment. The number of claims for Job seekers allowance has also risen.

The causes of high unemployment are highly complex and very difficult to balance. However, one thing is clear, it's getting worse.

Figures published yesterday by the O.N.S (Office for National Statistics), show that 432,000 people aged 50 and over 20 percent of 16 to 24 year olds are currently unemployed, hitting a total of 1.04million. The overall figure for those without work is now 2.69million. This is the highest it's been 17 years.

Employment figures show a dramatic drop in the number of people in full time work at the end of last year about 140,000, while an extra 31,000 people are now in part time work.Thousands of people are finding themselves in a situation where they are becoming self employed as they can't find full time work.

As the situation gets worse, a sense of uncertainty about the future looms over the nation. Many a debate will be had about how to solve the issue but whom or what will make the change happen?

This is a topic that has affected thousands of Stowmarket's people. Please have your say below.

My brother has been looking for a job for ages, people keep hassling him about it but I understand that it's very difficult to find work at the moment, especially full time work.
