Stowmarket Striders Half Marathon

Stowmarket Striders running club offers enthusiastic runners of all ages a chance to meet and train with likeminded people. The twice a week sessions are supervised by a UK Athletics qualified coach and for those who are slightly more competitive there are plenty of organised races and events to take part in, such as the fifth annual Half Marathon in memory of Joe Coz, on Sunday 25th March 2012 at 11am.

Online entry is now open for the race, which, for the first time this year, will be chip-timed to ensure you get a spot-on time for your personal best.
You will also be helping to raise valuable funds for the chosen charity, the Multiple Sclerosis Trust, by either taking part or helping to marshal this exciting event in the Suffolk countryside.
Tomlinson Groundcare will be supporting the event for the third year, and the start and finish lines will be at its premises in Buxhall.
The race, which takes in some of the region's most scenic views, is open to all entrants aged 17 years and over, and is suitable for racing wheelchairs. To add to the day's excitement, a junior race, of between one and three kilometres, will take place at 10.15am. Entries for the junior race will be taken on the day only.
Prizes for the half marathon include £50 for the first male and female runners to cross the line, second male and female will get £25 and third male and female runners will get £10. There will also be age and club category prizes.
The current half marathon record for the course, are held by (m) Carl Prewer (Lowestoft Road Runners) at 1:14:55 – set last year - and (f) Tamara Jordan (Stowmarket Striders) at1:23:53 set in 2010.
Stowmarket Striders is a road running club with more than 300 members of all ages and abilities. The club meets twice a week for friendly and social training sessions supervised by our UK Athletics-qualified coaches. They ensure any training suits your ability and will help you achieve your goals.

Entries on the day will be accepted unless the limit of 500 has been reached. Collect your number and chip from race headquarters on the day.
