Our local high School in Stowmarket has recently received £18,000 from Suffolk County Council. The sum is being used to improve conditions in the building and to make it easier for those with medical problems and disabilities to access the school. According to Bury Free Press, the school has already begun improvements including new mirrors in the dance studio and the removal of graffiti from two of the stairwells. The school now plans to increase the size of its medical room and upgrade the two entrance doors to help improve access. Plans for further improvements include redecorating the dining room, school halls, gym and changing rooms.

The school has also been commemorating the passing of teacher, Ruth Barber, head of drama. The 31 year old passed away in March from a cardiac arrest. Staff and students have created a seating area and a flower bed in remembrance which can be seen outside the school.

Are you a current/ex student at Stowmarket High School? How do you feel about this investment?
