Stonham Barns Caravan & Camping Park, Stowmarket, Suffolk
'All in all would definately recommend. We have been caravaning for many years, and this site is really good value for money.' - Review by Stormperson
This caravan and camping park welcomes caravans, motorhomes, tents, trailer tents and tipis (Is a teepee/tipi) not a tent anyway?). As a child friendly site, the location is ideal for the young ones to run around in huge grounds (60 pitches) with hard and grass standing. There is a children's play area, Crazy Putt, fishing lakes and even an owl sanctury! Children under the age of 5 go free! They also have a rally field which sounds exciting, and there is also a shop on site as well as a restuarant, so you can relax in comfort and send the kiddies off on snack errands. You can also bring up to two dogs although they must be kept on a lead at all times. Apart from the odd complaint about the shop being too small and no shops nearby to stock up nearby, I would say this isolation is a great thing, and anyway Stowmarket is only 15 minutes away in a car!
Every pitch is serviced with:
- Electric
- Water Points - Laundry Room
- Fully serviced mens & ladies toilet block
- Fully serviced mens & ladies shower block
- Washing up area
Price List
-With hook-up: £16.00
-Without hook-up £14.00
-Per additional person: £2.00
-Per additional 'pop up' tent: £2.00
-Per additional car: £2.00
If you have a caravan you can take advantage of their storage offer of £25 pcm, and they will secure you a plot for your next visit! Sounds pretty good to me.
'We have visited this site on numerous occasions and absolutely love it! The showers and toilets are always immaculately cleaned and you never have to queue for these or the washing up facilities. We have always been made to feel very welcome over the past three years and would recommend this site to anyone. - Keren L
'The site is well looked after and there is a cafe on site called 'lakeside' this serves a variety of hot meals from a full English at a fiver to a lasagne and curry, it is VERY clean and well priced with good friendly service.' - Mellen
Located in Onehouse, Stowmarket, and at half the size of Stonham Barns, this caravan park has exactly what it suggests...a lake. Ideal for fishing enthusiasts who rate the site highly for it's variety of fish as well as good accomodation on site. Child friendly, there is a play area, althought there is no shop on site apart from a cafe. There is a pub across the road for the adults though! This may be child friendly but I am not sure. While the size of the washing facilities has been brought up in reviews, the staff are reported to be friendly and helpful.
This is a caravan club members site only, and accepts only 5 motorhomes or caravans at one time. No tents. At half an acre in size and based in Stonham Aspel near Stowmarket, this is the perfect location for campers happy without all the frills and attractions that others in the area offer. If you are looking for the basics and natural feel to camping, then this is for you.
Pitch based on 2 adults per night - £12.00
Extra Adult per night - £1.00
Children under 16 - free
No extra charge for hook up and awning.
Camping and Caravan Accessories
The best place to go for all camping and caravan related needs has to be Stowmarket Caravans Sales Ltd. Located near Stowmarket town centre, this company boasts a fully stocked caravan, motorhome and camping accessory shop.

What a great article, thank you for sharing this. The Stonham Barns campsite sounds amazing. It sounds more like a pleasure park with all things it has to offer, e.g. owl santuary etc.
Keep it coming!
