Stowmarket highsteet was PACKED OUT this year to witness and celebrate the turning on of the Christmas lights! Christmas is definately in the air and it was a beautiful sight seeing the town alive in festive spirit last Friday.

Penguins..

First things first, anyone else have a chat with the 8 ft penguins strolling around amusing the children?! Have a look for yourself by viewing gallery one and two here on stowmarketpeople. There are lots of photos from the event. From reindeer to street entertainers and snow machines, it was a really good show and it was definately a lot busier than last year.

Christmas Fayre

There was a Christmas Fayre at the Museum of East Anglian Life (read the article and view the photos here) which looked stunning in the barn. Santa was there in the grotto and there were some beautiful Christmas tree's on display, as well as many beautiful things for sale.

There was only one little snag.. When you came out from seeing santa at the museum, he was there on the highstreet on his sleigh! This may have raised a few eyebrows among the children!

Music

Music was a huge part of the day and kicked off around 5pm. There were many bands involved including The Salvation Army Band, The Kettle Girls and live jazz. Crowds gathered and a few brave few got dancing.

Christmas Lights

The Christmas lights were turned on by Sheila Ravenscroft (patron of the John Peel Cente for Creative Arts) and Lesley Dolphin.

A lot of people were involved in making this day so special, and you can read about who was involved by visiting the Stowmarket Town Council website.

Did you attend the celebrations this year? Got some piccies to share? Get involved and post them on here!
