A local police community support officer is preparing for a long and arduous journey to raise funds for charity. PCSO Ryan Brunnings is raising funds in order to take part in a trek to Everest Base Camp. To achieve his goal Ryan needs at least four thousand pounds! With the help of friends, family and local businesses Ryan has raised just under three thousand pounds.

Ryan's trek to the Everest Base Camp will take place from 15th March to 4th April 2012 and will raise money for the British Heart Foundation helping them to fund research into heart disease and other illness's that affect so many people.

The latest fundraising event will be a charity football match between Stowmarket XI and Police XI that will take place this Tuesday at Stowmarket Football clubs grounds. Each player will pay £2 to take part in the match and there will be a donations bucket circulating if you are feeling generous.

Organiser PCSO David Harvey said.

"This will be the second charity football game that we have participated in. Last year we took on Cherrytree Road, Stowmarket in aid of Cancer research"

"This year I have approached Stowmarket Community Sports and Social Club asking for their assistance again, in providing a kit for this year's charity game. I was delighted that not only have the football club been able to provide the facilities and kit to wear, they were keen to support this worthy cause by putting together a Stowmarket XI side to take on Police XI. Like all sporting events I'm sure there will be a competitive edge to it, but all those participating will be aware of the "respect" campaign being driven by the FA, which I know Stowmarket Town FC fully support through their youth section to the 1st team."

Ryan has been creating awareness of his cause via his weekly blog, and he also has a website dedicated to receiving donations.

Ryan stated, "I am really looking forward to the match and I hope we can give Stowmarket Town a run for their money! I would like to thank everyone for their support. We have plenty of people willing to give up their time to play a part and help raise money for the British Heart Foundation for them to continue their research into heart disease"

There is no charge for admission but of course all donations will be appreciated.

The event will take place on Tuesday 29th November 2011 at Green Meadows football grounds and starts at 7:30pm.
