By Forever_Free | Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 21:07
You would not believe how many car parks Stowmarket actually has, all within walking distance of the highstreet. There is a gallery to help familiarise yourself with these car parks, as well as individual links in the list.
However, we all have different needs, so here is a little guide to the best places to park in Stowmarket.
Prentice Road
This car park offers the cheapest rates at £2 all day! Situated just off the cross roads into town, and slightly closer than the train station, there are plenty of parking spaces here. View the car park here.
Union Street Car Park
This car park is situated next to the new Family Bargains building. Very close to town. With 25 spaces available, the rates are £2.50 all day. Not huge, but available.View the car park here
Bury Street Car Park
Right next to Union Street car park, so a handy over flow.. £2.50 all day. View the car park here.
Family Bargains Car Park
This car park now belongs to Family Bargains. If you spend over £5 in store you can refund your £2 parking ticket. View the car park here. The rates are as follows:
Up to 2 hours - £2.00
Up to 3 hours - £4.00
Over 4 hours - £20.00 (up to 12 hours max)
Free on Sundays
Illfe Way Car Park
Also known as the car park for the Museum of East Anglian Life. A handy over flow car park when Asda gets rammed at the weekend. View the car park here
Upto 1.5 hours - £1.00
1.5 - 3 hours - £1.50
3 - 4 hours - £2.00
4 + hours - £2.50
Parking free on Sundays
Meadow Centre Car Park
This is the Asda carpark, who offer a refund with a £10 + spend in store.. not a great bargain in my mind but very convenient if you are doing a shop of course. View the car park here
Upto 1.5 hours - £1.00
1.5 - 3 hours - £2.00
Parking free on Sundays and Bank Hols
Ipswich Street Car Park
Used as The Regal car park, this one is based at the top of the highstreet. VERY popular and often packed out due to the closure of an old car park earlier this year where Morrisons is being built. Very hand car park if you can get a space.
Upto 1.5 hours - £1.00
1.5 - 3 hours - £1.50
3 - 4 hours - £2.00
4 + hours - £2.50
Parking free on Sundays
With that is mind it will be interesting to see if the parking is free at the new Morrisons when it opens, or whether it will run a similar refund scheme to Asda, although hopefully not as expensive!
Stowmarket Train Station Car Park
Convenient for commuters, although quite pricey if you use it for work on a weekly basis. There are now two car parks, this being the old one and this being the new one.
Daily - £4.60
Off Peak - £2.80
Evening - £2.30
Saturday- £2.30
Sunday - £1.00
Weekly - £20.00
Monthly - £75.80
Annual - £794.50
Blue Bandge Holders - Free
So there you have it. How do you rate the selection?
